9-12 Donuts

Ingredients

  • 4 1/3 Cup All Purpose Flour
  • 3/4 Cup Milk
  • 2 1/4 Tsp Active Yeast + 1 Tsp Sugar (1 Yeast Packet)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Egg Yolk
  • 2 TBSP Sugar
  • 5 TBSP Butter
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • Glazed Icing
  • 3 1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 Tsp Salt
  • 1/3 Cup Milk

Instructions

  1. Add Milk to a Sauce Pan and Scold Milk over Medium Heat
  2. Stir Frequently and Allow Milk to Reach 180º
  3. Allow Milk to Cool to 110º
  4. Add 1 Tsp Sugar to Milk and add Yeast Packet
  5. Allow to sit and activate yeast
  6. Once Yeast has started to foam add Milk, Butter, Vanilla Extract, Sugar, Egg and Egg Yolk to mixing bowl
  7. Start stand mixer on Low/Medium Speed and start adding in flour
  8. Lightly Grease a bowl and once dough has formed and springs back when touched pinch dough into a ball and place in the bowl and cover with either a damp towel or saran wrap
  9. Allow dough to double in size (usually takes and hour)
  10. Remove dough and flour surface
  11. Knead dough for 5 minutes
  12. Using a rolling pin roll out dough (about 1/4 inch)
  13. Use donut cutter and cut out donuts
  14. Place cut out donuts on parchment paper and allow donuts to rise (about 30 Minutes)
  15. Preheat Oil in A large pan or Dutch Oven to 375º
  16. Place Donuts in oil and cook for a minute on each side or until donuts become a deep golden brown color
  17. While donuts are still hot place donuts in glaze and coat
  18. Place Donuts on a wire rack and allow glaze to cool
  19. Serve and Enjoy!!
